A lighter style of Pinot Grigio best suited as an aperitif or with delicate seafood dishes.
Pale yellow green in colour
Lifted nose showcasing citrus, white peach and pear aromas overlaid with delicate floral highlights.
The palate is pure and fresh with elegant flavours of apple, citrus and white flower carried by a mineral acid backbone to a dry long finish. A very expressive and well balanced example of the style.
Above Verona, to the South east on the way to Soave, lies the DOC appellation of Arcole. The region is within the influence of Lake Garda to the west, which sends cooling evening breezes down the valley, combining with cooler nights to retain natural acidity . The silty and sandy soils result in low yields and a mineral character. Hand harvested in the early morning to retain natural acidity. Primarily whole bunched pressed, aiming to limit skin contact and preserve elegance. Fermented in stainless steel with temperature control before maturation on lees to build texture and complexity. 2015 will generally be regarded as a classic vintage throughout much of Europe and Veneto was no exception. The vineyards began with excellent soil moisture levels and the vines responded well to ideal spring conditions before a very warm, dry summer slowed growth and limited yields. A warm, clear Autumn provided excellent ripening but crucially cool nights ensured the retention of naturally acidity. The wines are surprisingly fresh and aromatic with excellent depth of flavour. Soil is siltsand
