Pork fillet with mash and wilted cabbage, crayfish, scallops or prawns.
12 months on oak.
Pale straw with green hues.
Fruit-driven with tropical fruit aromas some peach and nectarine hints, creamy complexity and hints of buttery oak.
This is fruity and flavoursome but at the same time refined, quite a feat. There are ripe peach and tropical fruit salad flavours with a nice twist of acidity and plenty of creamy, vanilla and cashew-nut oak to support the flavours.
You'll remember Bob McLean if you've ever met him at a wine tasting - he was the big, cheery chap who made Barossa winery St. Hallett famous. Bob had a great sense of humour, but he was serious about his wine - and especially serious about the Barossa. "I love wine from everywhere," he said. "But I discovered through the St Hallett years that I was all about the Barossa. That's where I wanted to be. The Barossa is mine." This flavoursome 2012 Chardonnay reflects Bob's desire to make wines that represent the absolute best of the Barossa.
