Enjoy as an aperitif, or with almost any white meat dish. Perfect with dumplings also.
Aged in medium toast two and three year old Mercurey and Taransaud coopered French oak.
A fresh and lifted nose with aromas of white peach, a hint of melon and subtle notes of struck match.
The palate is fruit driven and pure with a core of ripe stone and exotic fruit flavours framed by subtle toasty oak and carried by fine mineral acidity. A riper expression of new wave Yarra Chardonnay that is a rewarding experience now and for the medium term.
Sourced from a single vineyard planted in 2001 and located in the Coldstream region of the Yarra Valley. Picked partially by hand by night and partially by machine at night. The majority of the blend was vinified in stainless steel with high solids and malolactic prevented.. About one third was naturally fermented with 100% malolactic before aging in medium toast two and three year old Mercurey and Taransaud coopered French oak with monthly lees stirring for six month. A very low yielding, dry and quite warm vintage resulted in one of the earliest vintages on record. On the positive whilst there was considerable and consistent warmth there were no really hot spikes and rain in late January really revitalised the vines. A riper and more expressive Yarra vintage.
