"75% from Mount Benson, 25% Yarra Valley, 3.5% Tasmania. Obviously the components were separately vinified, and (seemingly) barrel-fermented. White peach and nectarine are a (very good) conventional start, but the complex nuttytangy finish takes the wine into gold medal territory." 95 points, James Halliday Wine Companion, August 2017.

Background

The Dorrien Bin 1A Chardonnay is a pinnacle selection wine and for this reason the fruit parcels are selected from premium growing regions only to allow the production of the best possible wine. The Bin 1A Chardonnay is a show reserve wine and its natural acidity gives it the capacity for long term cellaring. Criteria for the fruit selection process is based on grapes having an excellent natural acid balance and an exceptional fruit flavour profile, so with these criteria in mind small parcels of super premium Chardonnay grapes were sourced from vineyards in Margaret River, Western Australia, Coal River Valley, Tasmania & Mt Benson, South Australia. Only the very best parcels were selected.
