Slow cooked lamb shoulder with Moroccan couscous.
80% French and 20% American oak (35% new).
Aromas of dark berried fruits, spice, mocha and savoury leather notes.
Pristine fruit with dark red berries, hints of spice, earth, tar and leather, with seamlessly integrated oak are the prime characteristics. Ripe tannins are apparent but not overwhelming, meaning this is a wine which can be enjoyed now or in the next 10-15 years.
The 2014 Mr. Riggs Shiraz is a blend of two great McLaren Vale Shiraz vineyards: Piebald Gully, and Gateway Vineyard. Perhaps one of Australia's most consistent wine growing regions, McLaren Vale enjoys a very Mediterranean climate driven by dominant winter rainfall, low humidity, warm summers, and the moderating influence of the nearby Gulf St Vincent. Piebald Gully is situated in the coolest sub-region of McLaren Vale, bordering the Adelaide Hills. Planted in deep sand over at the base of Willunga foothills and is virtually dry grown. Gateway Vineyard, so called as it stands just at the entrance to McLaren Vale, is located in the subregion of Seaview. The vines grow on top of a rather unusual amount of limestone rock and has views of the Gulf of St Vincent and the Adelaide Hills.
