Considered the most important grape in Sicily, Nero d'Avola is often compared to New World Shiraz. This plush example is filled with black cherry richness and supporting milk chocolate, brown spices and herbal complexity. Like all good Italian wines it's food-friendly, particularly with red meat dishes.

This is a dark and broody Nero D'Avola

Nose

Lifted aromatics and plush fruit flavours.

Palate

Plum and black cherry richness with supporting milk chocolate, brown spices and garden herb complexity. The wine has a plushness of berries but finishes long and dry with savory notes and freshness of acidity. The tannins are soft yet apparent and certainly in support to deliver bot h very food friendly wine and an easy one to like on its own.

Background

Hand harvested in the cool of the morning, fermented in open top fermenters with plunging by hand and additional time on skins to ensure colour and flavour extraction. Fermented slowly and then transferred into a combination of larger format oak and stainless steel for maturation. The wine was then blended and bottled with minimal fining and filtration.
