90% Tempranillo, 5% Shiraz, 5% Garnacha
Three months maturation in seasoned French and American Oak
Bright red in colour
A lifted and inviting nose of ripe dark berries, plums and smoked spice.
The palate is medium bodied and elegant with a core of ripe red berried fruit, varietal cherry cola and smoky spice framed by fine graphite tannins. The quality of this wine is indicated by the length and precise definition of its finish. The wine will continue to gain character and complexity for up to ten years.
Totally de-stemmed with a short cold soak before a long, cool fermentation with a daily pump-overs to achieve optimum fruit and colour. The core of the blend was aged in stainless steel before three months maturation in seasoned French and American oak. A component of up to ten percent of de-classified Rioja (due to volume constrainers not quality) is added to the blend three months before bottling. Despite the fireworks elsewhere, 2014 was a relatively trouble free vintage in Manchuela with regular but not excessive rain events and sufficient sunlight hours during ripening. The vines were able to ripen slowly and generate maximum flavour and complexity whilst retaining balance and natural acidity. Vineyard soil Limestone Marl Sandstone
