Palate

A soft medium to full bodied red wine with juicy plum and blackberry fruit accompanied by mint, black pepper and aniseed spice. This wine has a fine acid fruit balance and a silky tannin structure with a lingering finish.

Background

This is a classic Merlot from Hardys Main Road 202 range - flavoursome wines that continue to deliver on consistency and quality. The Riverland has a climate well suited for growing Merlot grapes, with warm summer days and plenty of sunshine allowing full fruit flavours and sugars to develop. This year we had an optimum ripening season, with mild days and cool nights allowing superlative flavour development. This vintage was warm and dry which resulted in generous varietal characters.
