Mockingbird Hill Slate Lane Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
While the Clare Valley is at the forefront of most wine connoisseurs for the sensational Riesling produced there, most knowledgeable wine consumers will also be aware of the outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon. Richly flavoured and generally long lived these wines are easily able to stand proud alongside any top notch Barossa wines. This wine is full, rich and long on the palate, and is destined to improve for many years to come. Lovely bramble and berry flavours. Long tannins with a long finish with slight powdery mouth feel.
Z Wines 3146 Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Joachim Zerk, an early German pioneer farmer, settled in the Barossa Valley in 1846. He purchased for 200 pounds what he considered a perfect site for a vineyard. 160 years later, the Zerk family still grow grapes in old vineyards of which Section 3146 is a part. This Cabernet has an abundance of ripe blackcurrant fruit on the palate that pairs seamlessly with layers of tobacco and mint finishing with a balanced tannin structure.
Gallows Wine Co. The Bommy Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
This single vineyard Margaret River Cabernet is made by leading vigneron Charlie Maiolo from his estate in the north of the region. Charlie used to sell his grapes to Cape Mentelle, but he's now gone it alone and the results are superb. This is Margaret River Cabernet at its most powerful, age-worthy, best.
