Le Corbeau Rouge 2013 This stylish, flavoursome red is made from a blend of four grapes, Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Lladoner Pelut. It's a bright, fruit-filled style with characters of ripe red berries and hints of spice. A great food wine with a quirky label of a crow holding a wedge of cheese in his beak.

Fundacion Maga El Sueno 2011 Truly top class. This wine is a treat to sip solo but sings when paired with good red meat. Think lamb cutlets, charred on the outside and pink on the inside steak. The bright cherry fruit profile is balanced by savoury notes of herbs, spices and tobacco. If you haven't tried Rioja, make this your first.

Irvine Eden Valley Reserve Zinfandel 2012 Only in favourable years can the Reserve Zinfandel be produced. The overall style is elegance with power, and growing in the cool Eden Valley gives exactly this. This 2012 shows full structure and complexity coming from the superb ripening conditions in autumn. Drinking well now, but will age 8 to 10 years with proper cellaring.

Château Belle-garde Bordeaux Aop 2013 This is very similar in style to classic Margaret River red blends, with plump plum fruit flavours and fine, smooth tannins. Like all great Bordeaux wines, this will blossom with age.

Stefano De Pieri L'unico Cabernet Sangiovese Blend 2013 You'd expect Stefano de Pieri to be able to create an exciting, Italian-inspired, food-friendly red. He is, after all, one of the most celebrated Italian chefs in the land. Here he's emulated the famous 'Super Tuscans' of Italy and blended Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon. Together they're dynamite.
