Meet the makers

McLaren Vale magicians

Pat and Vicki Vasarelli have been growing grapes in McLaren Vale for over 30 years.

Originally from Italy, Pat landed in Melbourne on the 26th January, 1968 with one dollar in his pocket. A jack-of-all-trades, Pat worked as a fitter and turner, a bricklayer and a carpenter before turning his hand to grape growing with wife Vicki in the early 1980s. They chose the McLaren Vale as the site of their first vineyard and soon found their grapes in demand from local wineries including Petaluma, Rosemount, Orlando and Wirra Wirra.

In 1994 they bought a prime 40-acre property on McLaren Vale’s blue chip Seaview road and the following year they signed a deal to sell their wines exclusively through Cellarmasters.

Award winning pedigree

Their wines have been incredibly successful on the wine show circuit, winning numerous Trophies, Gold and Silver medals. Vicki says that it … “makes us proud to have a successful label. When you go into the vineyard, you want to produce the best fruit because your name is going to be on the bottle.”

Great wine is made in the vineyard

The Vasarelli’s hand prune and hand pick every vine on their 55-hectare McLaren Vale property to ensure top quality fruit, resulting in wines that are warm and generous with plenty of character. They have good varietal definition, excellent concentration and real persistence of flavour – surely a reflection of the care and attention lavished in the vineyard.

A labour of love delivers a stunning 6-pack

For those who have never tasted a Vasarelli wine before, this six-pack is the perfect introduction. (Those who have are already ordering it!) It features reds from their iconic Family Reserve label, their superb Estate Grown range and the outstanding Pasquale’s Selection Shiraz. All of these wines showcase what the McLaren Vale – and the Vasarelli’s – do best: full bodied, smooth and generous reds.

Plus, as a special bonus you’ll also get a FREE bottle of the Vasarelli’s Maria's Table Currency Creek Sangiovese, a beautifully supple example of this Italian variety from the Vasarelli’s (relatively) new vineyards in South Australia’s Currency Creek. Simply put, it’s bellissimo.
