Tolley The Trustees Tawny is rich and complex with sweet, nutty flavours that are restrained by the dry oak finish. Tawny Ports are bottled when they are ready to drink, so they don't require any further bottle ageing. Paired superbly with hard cheeses or dark chocolate treats with a strong espresso coffee - great at a dinner party.

Varieties

A blend of many premium varieties.

Alcohol

17.5%

Foods

Flavoursome hard cheeses or dark chocolate treats with a strong expresso coffee.

Oak

5 - 8 year old oak barrels for maturation

Colour

Medium tawny brown due to the extended oak maturation.

Nose

Fantastic concentrated aroma of rancio, liquorice and raisin fruit combined with lifted brandy spirit (the fortifying agent).

Palate

Rich and complex with lots of sweet, nutty flavours restrained by the excellent acidity and dry old oak tannin finish. The flavours persist long into the aftertaste.

Background

Aged in older oak barrels which simply give a slow controlled "oxidation" to the maturing wine.
