"Crushing intensity and length. Sour and nutty with slick, sweet, fresh toffee, dried fruits, rancio and coffee notes. Dances out through the finish. Irrepressible." 95 points, James Halliday.

Older oak.

Deep tawny colours.

A powerful bouquet displaying an excellent balance of rich fruit, nutty vanillin oak and a hint of chocolate.

Full bodied, rich and luscious, with concentrated lingering flavours. With ageing the wine has become complex, smooth and mellow. A pronounced rancio character is also evident, derived from extended oak maturation.

The Story of Mr Pickwick and his particular Tawny - Whether it's "Mrs Winkle returns under extraordinary circumstances" - "The Card room at Bath" or "Mr. Bob Sawyer's mode of travelling," Charles Dickens penned the diary of the day through his fictional but immortal Mr. Pickwick. This respected venerable notary and lover of human cosiness presented HIS Club and HIS particular Rare Tawny. Mr Pickwick's Tawny is widely regarded as Australia's definitive tawny. Its average age of over 21 years makes it unique amongst fortified wines consistently available on a commercial basis. Mr Pickwick's is a distinguished wine, rounded and mellowed that can only come from great age and a long period of maturation in small oak casks. It is this which enhances the bouquet, develops the rich tawny colour and deepens the palate.
