Background:

In the 2008 vintage, Langhorne Creek experienced mild, dry climatic conditions throughout February resulting in wonderfully rich, flavoursome characters in the early-ripening grapes Shiraz and Malbec. After the idyllic start, the second half of the vintage was a contrast, with a heatwave bringing 35 degree temperatures which meant fruit dehydration and sugar levels were at unprecedented levels. Up to 30% of the 2008 vintage was severely heat affected. Luckily for Stonyfell, the majority of fruit for the Bin 62 was harvested before the adverse effects of the heatwave hit.Stonyfell has been producing premium table wines for over a century using fruit sourced from Australias leading wine producing regions such as, Langhorne Creek, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley and the Barossa Valley.
