The wine regions of Western Australia

Western Australia is arguably Australia's leading premium wine producing state. From world-class Chardonnay and Cabernet, to spicy Shiraz and intense Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends, its wines are some of the best this country produces.

Not surprisingly, they sometimes have price tags to match. If you search carefully, however, you’ll discover some real gems at more than reasonable prices. Key wine producing regions include Margaret River, Pemberton, the Perth Hills and the Great Southern, a huge area in the far south of the state that takes in the premium, cool climate sub-regions of Mount Barker and Frankland River.
