Located on South Australia’s Limestone Coast, Coonawarra produces some of the finest wines in Australia. It’s famous for its classic terra rossa soil – red soil over limestone – and its legendary, long-lived, distinctive Cabernet Sauvignons. A typical Coonawarra Cabernet features lean, deep, dark, fruit cassis flavours, with a touch of herbaceousness, and mint, often with a touch of coffee and dark chocolate as well. Good examples also offer a tight, elegant structure, fine tannins, a firm astringency and good persistence of fruit and oak flavour.

Coonawarra is also cattle country, and if you’ve ever tasted a char-grilled steak with a Coonawarra red, you’ll know they were made for each other.
