First things first: Pinot Gris & Pinot Grigio are made from the same grape, just in a different style. Pinot Grigio is traditionally light, zesty, crisp and minerally – ‘like licking wet rocks’ is one popular descriptor. Pinot Gris is a more complex, full-bodied, voluptuous wine. These days wine producers are a little bit flexible with the style and name, so a tasting note is helpful if you’re looking for a particular style. Both styles are delicious – so much so that Pinot Gris & Pinot Grigio are set to take over from Sauvignon Blanc as the new ‘it’ wine. Take a bottle (or two) to lunch and you’ll see what we mean.
